The Legacy Cares Christmas Market in Bartlett, TN was my first vendor event! I learned there is a lot of preparation behind doing a table. I had worked hard to create the coloring book and determine the items to add to create the bundle. It took time to bundle the items, add tags and ribbon. Then, I had to learn ways to set up the table in an approachable way that draws people in and makes them curious about what you have to offer. At this event, we were responsible for bringing tables and chairs, so I asked my husband to be “the muscle,” which was very helpful! I also created a Square account and made sure I know how to complete transactions for credit cards.

This event was a ton of fun! The other vendors had great products and were happy to share advice about other vendor events – how to find them and what to look for in a good event.

I was thrilled to have Pamela Ray along for the ride. We are great friends, and she is a children’s book author. One of her many superpowers is decorating tables, and I let her work her magic. She has two sweet stories to share with kids, and I loved hearing her talk about her work with the visitors. Having a partner at the table made the day twice as fun!

I have many items in my coloring book bundle: a coloring book, a packet of hot chocolate, snowman soup (marshmallows), a stress ball, a bookmark with a Bible verse that you can color, and a canvas bag with an image and Bible verse that you can color. There are eight different images on the canvas bags, and I set it up so that people could choose the image they preferred. This made things both more fun and more complicated, since I needed to have multiple bundles of each image. The decorations are a mix of mine and Pam’s. We had very positive comments about our table!

What’s Next?

I have my second vendor event on Tuesday, three days after this one. I will use what I have learned and do even better!

What Advice Do You Have?
