Memphis Mosaic: Short Stories of the Bluff City is written by the Collierville Christian Writers Group in Collierville, TN. The inspiration
was to write a book based on Memphis area landmarks. Although a work of fiction, some stories are based on historical events. For example, I chose to write about the Yellow Fever epidemic, which was so severe that it temporarily cost Memphis its charter. I wrote this story from the point of view of a white oak tree, but the story is based on historical documents.
Each writer interpreted the prompt in their own way, resulting in a wide variety of stories that will inspire, entertain, and add to your knowledge about the history and culture of Memphis, TN and the surrounding area.
I hope that you choose to read the book and enjoy it!
Unpacking the Books!
I couldn’t wait to unpack the book and share the experience with you. The cover, designed by Beth Alvarez, one of the writers in our group, looks even better in person than it does on screen! Each tile was hand-drawn to ensure that the blocks would be different and unique. Please enjoy watching the book reveal!
