This is the question for the letter D: Diabetes!

Which organ contains insulin-producing cells?
A. Liver
B. Pancreas
C. Kidney
Scroll down for the answer!

The answer is B: Pancreas
Pancreatic cells produce insulin
Beta cells in the pancreas produce insulin when blood sugar level rise, helping to move glucose into cells for energy.
Type 1 Diabetes
Type 1 diabetes, an autoimmune disease, often begins in childhood. The body’s immune system destroys the beta cells and insulin is not produced.
Insulin is given to type 1 diabetic patients to control glucose levels.
Type 2 Diabetes
Type 2 diabetes progresses over time, can affect adults or children, and is more common in people who are overweight.
Pancreas develops a decreased ability to release insulin. It becomes more difficult for cells to use insulin, which is called insulin resistance.
Type 2 diabetic patients may need to be given insulin to help control their blood glucose levels.
